A perennial favorite, this full-color, entertaining text develops the basic listening skills needed for following and participating in conversations on common topics like jobs, prices, hobbies, health, and shopping. Through guided tasks, students improve such general comprehension skills as listening for the main idea and listening for key words. They also increase their comprehension of mechanical features such as contractions, stress, and intonation.

The 17 units (about 4 pages each) offer exercises that are progressively graded in difficulty. This can be used as the core of an intensive listening or conversation course and also as a supplement for a four-skills course.
