The expression used to is commonly used when talking about past habits. It means "something was true in the past, but it is not anymore." For example,
I used to live in Toronto, but I don't anymore. Now I live in Vancouver. I used to ride a bicycle to school, but I don't anymore. Now I drive a car. I used to be married, but I'm not anymore. Now I'm divorced.
