Especially designed for students who want practice with skills in socializing, telephoning, presenting, taking part in meetings, and negotiating, this short course takes a valuable approach to developing confidence, fluency, range, and effectiveness in communicative business situations. It is based on the same core content as the popular text, English for Business Communication, with the main difference being that this uses American English. Each colorful unit can be done in any order and highlights the objectives, from problem solving on the telephone to preparing a meeting. A language checklist lists the key phrases of each lesson, such as confirming information, stating an opinion, or dealing with conflict. Special skills checklists provide valuable outlines and summaries. There's also a File Cards section filled with role play and discussion activities. The audio components provide around two hours of listening input; the course as a whole has 15 units averaging 3 hours of classroom work each.
